Apply

Twice a year IMPRACTICAL SPACES announces a call for partner applications. Selected partners will produce a local publication that documents defunct artist spaces in their region, in collaboration with Impractical Spaces for inclusion in the national publication project by the same name. Our next call for partners will be announced soon.

Guidelines for partnerships

Our partners are not individuals and spaces wishing to be listed, but individual and organizations who have both the capacity and skills to organize the publication of the project for their particular city or region. An 18-24 month commitment to produce the project is required. We are looking for partners who value and seek out the diversity represented art-making across America. We encourage proposals that highlight the value of contributions by women, people of color, and underrepresented practitioners.

Three-stage review process

First Stage Application: Why you? Why do you want to participate in this project? Describe the artist-run scene within your community. Describe your fundraising experience?

Second Stage Interview: A conversation with the editors of Impractical Spaces

Third Stage: Proposal: Invitation to submit a full project proposal to Impractical Spaces.
